SEAMAP Real-time Plots for the year 2026

Week 3

Below is the third preliminary data summary for the 2026 SEAMAP Summer Shrimp/Groundfish Survey in the northern Gulf of America. This week's summary includes sampling conducted by Mississippi and Alabama aboard the R/V Tommy Munro from June 13-21. Catch data were collected using a 40-ft trawl.

Plotted catch rates have been standardized to pounds per hour for a 40-ft trawl. Shrimp counts are reported as heads-on counts. The grid squares shown on the charts represent 10-minute latitude–longitude grids. The value displayed within each grid square is the average catch rate or count from all stations sampled within that grid, which may include one or more sampling stations. Sampling stations were selected randomly within depth strata.

Catch data indicated that the highest catch rate of pink shrimp was 4.1 lb/hr at a depth of 16 fm, located at 30°06′ N latitude and 85°54′ W longitude. The maximum total catch rate including the three shrimp species was 1,469 lb/hr at a depth of 25 fm, located at 27°46′ N latitude and 83°42′ W longitude.
