SEAMAP Real-time Plots for the year 2026
Week 4
Below is the fourth preliminary data summary for the 2026 SEAMAP Summer Shrimp/Groundfish Survey in the northern Gulf of America. This week's summary includes sampling conducted by NMFS aboard the Oregon II from June 16-29. Catch data were collected using a 40-ft trawl.
Plotted catch rates have been standardized to pounds per hour for a 40-ft trawl. Shrimp counts are reported as heads-on counts. The grid squares shown on the charts represent 10-minute latitude–longitude grids. The value displayed within each grid square is the average catch rate or count from all stations sampled within that grid, which may include one or more sampling stations. Sampling stations were selected randomly within depth strata.
Catch data indicated that the highest catch rate of brown shrimp was 153.2 lb/hr at a depth of 30 fm, located at 28°03′ N latitude and 95°22′ W longitude. The highest catch rate of white shrimp was 27.3 lb/hr at a depth of 8 fm, located at 29°09′ N latitude and 94°52′ W longitude. The highest catch rate of pink shrimp was 17.4 lb/hr at a depth of 8 fm, located at 27°06′ N latitude and 97°21′ W longitude. The maximum combined catch rate including the three shrimp species was 583 lb/hr at a depth of 11 fm, located at 29°04′ N latitude and 93°56′ W longitude.
